The queen is never late, everyone else is simply early

Spread the love

I first heard the phrase from the character, Queen Clarisse Renaldi in the movie The Princess Diaries, What caught my attention was the fact that, though Queen Clarisse was late for the event, so when they asked her why she was late, she said “The queen is never late, everyone else is simply early”.

I was invited for a public function, which I arrived late, and I simply comforted myself with the word, “the queen is never late, everyone else is simply early”, “Funny right”?

But this is the attitude most people have come in terms with unconsciously. Have you ever been invited for a program, a business meeting, a social gathering, a Student Union meeting, or even a party? And you already planned that you’ll be there 30 minutes to the time, even when the event is scheduled to hold by 12 pm ( CAT), but you ended up getting there late, an event whereby you are expected to get there early.

This acts not only disrupts the order of the program, but it also destabilizes everyone. So in a bid to keep up with time, most organizers set the time 2 hours earlier to the pre-planned time in order to cover up for the popular Africa time.

Truly, everybody is trying to be on top of their game, but this act, however, shows that we do not value time neither do we have regard for time.

“Doest thou love life? Then do not squander time for that is the stuff life is made of” – Benjamin Franklin

Imagine if we all arrive at that event, business meetings, summit, seminars, and even our classes at the said time, we will not only be investing our time into something profitable, but we will also be making the most out of it.

If you can’t go late for a meeting with the president, or an influential personality, why then will you choose to arrive at a social or meeting late? Seriously, this habit has to be put off. Remember, every little thing counts, and habits are molded to become a lifestyle.

Suppose everyone decides to inculcate this habit of lateness, I guess there will be a lot of setback and retardations. You all know that punctuality is the soul of business.

To be an outstanding entrepreneur, you must not go with the flow, but dare to stand out, and make a difference.
Be disciplined and invest your time judiciously. Let your customers, client and audience know you for being honest with word and that you always keep to time, this act will help foster your business more, and you will gain their respect.

I oblige you to value time and stop the ‘Africa time’ syndrome. Let us begin to see time as a commodity to be converted and not to be wasted.

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world”_ Mahatma Gandhi.
Be a person of value. Don’t just keep to time but also value other people’s time and see how both the Queen/ king (you) and the people will always stick to time.

It begins with me, it begins with you.
