ORide with their unique approach is disrupting the market by wooing motorcycle riders with a smartphone. The smartphone already preinstalled with ORide and OPay app enables their riders to hook up with standby customers.
We interacted with one of the beneficiaries of the ORide smartphone who revealed that the smartphone was given to them not totally free. The riders payback based on the commission they earn on the motorcycle-hailing platform. Opera deduct a percentage on the rider’s commission until they finish paying the equivalent value for the smartphone.
Apart from the smartphone, Opera pegged all rides on ORide within Ibadan at ₦50. In June, ORide also pegged all rides within Lagos at ₦100.
