Microsoft Corporation is acquiring Github. After a lot of online roundups and meetings between Microsoft and Github, Microsoft has confirmed it will be buying Github.
Github is the biggest and most robust code repository where programmers, developers, tech enthusiasts and professionals host their projects and many companies use Github to host their entire projects, codes and documentation.
After acquiring Linkedin, Github is another big acquisition of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
Big tech companies like Apple, Amazon, Alibaba, Google, Microsoft itself and many other tech companies around the world use Github. Companies in Nigeria are not left out as big tech companies like Paystack, Konga and others host codes on Github
GitHub will now be led by CEO Nat Friedman, the founder of Xamarin, who will report to Microsoft’s Cloud and AI chief Scott Guthrie. GitHub CEO and co-founder Chris Wanstrath will now become a technical fellow at Microsoft, also reporting to Guthrie.
This seems the reason why Microsoft killed its own, Codeplex code repository late last year December. Microsoft became big contributor on Github with more than 1,000 developers pushing codes to Github.
